As educators, it helps to be aware of educational models in other countries. Recently many countries are looking towards Finland for an educational role model- they have the highest scores, yet the lowest number of class hours, in the developed world. And in contrast, the exam-based system of Korea. With the emphasis on exams and supplementing class time with private lessons and cram schools, this is closer to what most of us are familiar with in Japan.
