Job Hunting Stress

Stress When Job Hunting

Here at EduCareer, our goal is to get teachers hired directly by schools and in long-term, mutually fulfilling contracts. Unfortunately with a job market constantly in flux, you will probably be job hunting at some point in your life. It's a stressful time, but here are some tips.

1)     Stay on a schedule. It can be easy to fall into a pattern of sleeping in and staying up at night, but keeping a schedule similar to a work day can help you feel more organized and productive.

2)     Work on yourself. Use the time while you hunt to polish job skills- you can improve your language skills or take a TEFL course, which will help you then find a job.

3)     Use your friends. Having someone to look over your resume or practice interviewing with you can be invaluable. A confident interview will really impress schools, and the best way to get confidence is practice!

4)     Take care of yourself. Make sure to eat properly and get exercise.

5)     Stretch your limits. Don't sit around waiting to stumble over the perfect job description- try applying for jobs that might not be what you had in mind (for example, if you're dead set on senior high, but find an elementary opening, why not try?). It never hurts to get more practice talking to a potential employer, and you may find that by talking to them that the position is a lot better or more suitable for you than it sounds on paper. A lot of people dismiss jobs quickly, then end up sending out few resumes and getting fewer interviews. Get out there!

Good luck job hunting everyone!
