Vacation Plans

Everyone looks forward to the Golden Week vacation, but this year many more people are staying put. Reports show a 16% drop in international travel plans for the first week of May, and a 27% drop for domestic travel. Very few people are planning on going to the North, or even to Tokyo.

For teachers it can be hard to get away anyway- while Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are holidays, Monday and Friday are not. But with so few people traveling, deals can be found just about everywhere, and for those staying in Tokyo, it will be a rare chance to enjoy an emptier city as few visitors come and many vacationers head down to Osaka or Kyushu.
