Free English Tests for Students
2012/01/10
Many of you are no doubt familiar with the STEP Eiken exam, which many junior high school and high school students take to test their English proficiency. The tests cover reading, vocabulary, and even speaking. In order to gauge English proficiency, the government is planning to cover the fees for a certain number of students to take the exam at a maximum of eight schools per prefecture. The government plans to further study English proficiency by designating pilot schools to receive additional English instruction and experiences then comparing scores between pilot and non-pilot schools.
One catch, however, is that students won't be able to claim their new scores- the data will be solely for ministry use. Maybe students can use it as a practice test for when they take it for themselves later.
