Private secondary school in Gunma Prefecture is looking for a social studies and history teacher who is willing to commit mid to long term. If this field of teaching is your passion, and you've decided to make Japan your second home for a while, this would be a wonderful opportunity.

 

As an IB MYP I&S teacher, you will be responsible for teaching middle school students the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to excel in I&S to build the foundations for their future DP studies while following the content of the Japanese national curriculum. You will work closely with other I&S department members to develop engaging lessons that align with the IB MYP curriculum, while also being part of the IBDP History team.

Starting date: Aug 1, 2026 - July 31, 2028
*First year is probationary period
Annual salary: 3,700,000 - 7,100,000yen (before tax)
*Based on school's pay scale
Working days: Monday to Friday + some weekend work
Working hours: 8:15-17:00
Class content: IB MYP I&S, DP History

Holidays: 20 days paid leave and New Year's Holiday (Dec 29- Jan 3)
Insurance: Private school insurance plan and employment insurance
Allowances: Transportation and Housing (there are some eligibility requirements)

* Preparing and teaching lessons (MYP I&S, DP History)
* Curriculum and material development
* Making and marking exams
* Essay corrections
* Teaching seasonal courses
* Preparing and teaching seasonal courses and open schools
* Attending meetings, school events, and school ceremonies
* Accompanying school excursions
* School club activity
* Homeroom duties

[Qualification Requirements]
* Must have a bachelor's degree or higher
* Must have a secondary school teacher's license (Social Studies / History)
* Minimum 2-year experience teaching the subject at the secondary level

* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

* Ability to create engaging lesson plans that cater to different levels of English language proficiency

* Excellent collaborative working skills

* Experience using technology in the classroom

* Familiarity with the IB (MYP I&S and DP) is a plus
